Roberta Facchinetti is Full Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Verona. Her research studies focus largely on language description and pragmatics, with special attention to how language is exploited to negotiate social and discursive roles. To do so, she makes use of computerised corpora of both synchronic and diachronic English. On the topic Roberta Facchinetti has authored, co-authored and edited a number of books and articles, among which Corpus Linguistics 25 Years on (2007), From International to Local English – And Back Again, with David Crystal and Barbara Seidlhofer (2010); News as Changing Texts: Corpora, Methodologies and Analysis, with Nicholas Brownlees, Birte Bös and Udo Fries (2012).
